Uganda has been declared free of the Ebola epidemic.
The Ugandan government declared the country free of the Ebola virus. This announcement was made after the 42-day observation period recommended by the World Health Organization (WHO). The last patient in the country had been discharged from the hospital in mid-June.
Meanwhile, the Ebola virus continues to spread in the neighboring Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), indicating a regional health challenge.
In the DRC, 3262 confirmed cases and 1437 deaths have been recorded so far, highlighting the ongoing struggle against the virus.
