Malaysia's digital economy is transforming into a regional hub by 2026, driven by significant growth and investments.

Malaysia's digital economy, bolstered by the MyDIGITAL initiative, is experiencing rapid growth. In 2024, its gross merchandise value (GMV) reached 31 billion US dollars. Forecasts indicate that by the end of 2025, the digital economy is expected to account for 25.5 percent of the country's GDP.

This growth is underpinned by substantial investments. In 2024, 163.6 billion RM in investments were approved for digital sectors, marking a significant 250 percent increase over the previous year. These investments are focused on crucial areas such as data centers, semiconductors, and artificial intelligence infrastructure.

According to Horizon Hub Consulting, these investments in Malaysia's digital economy and government initiatives like MyDIGITAL are creating extensive opportunities for businesses and jobs, thereby solidifying the country's position as a regional digital hub.
