Malaysia's digital economy demonstrated unprecedented growth in the first half of 2024, strengthening the country's position as a regional technology hub. According to the Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation (MDEC), the volume of approved digital investments reached RM 66.22 billion in the first six months of 2024. This figure surpassed the total investment volume for 2023 and led to the creation of 25,498 new jobs. These figures clearly demonstrate confidence in Malaysia's digital infrastructure and its future potential.
The country aims to become an Artificial Intelligence (AI) nation by 2030 and is actively investing in advanced technology sectors such as artificial intelligence, blockchain, and quantum research. According to MDEC forecasts, total digital investments are expected to reach a record RM 163.6 billion by the end of 2024, positioning Malaysia as a technological leader in Southeast Asia.
These investments play a crucial role in strengthening Malaysia's digital infrastructure, fostering innovation, and ensuring economic diversification.
