South Korea is shaping the future of manufacturing by making huge investments in robotics and artificial intelligence.
South Korea is experiencing significant growth in the robotics industry, driven by advancements in artificial intelligence (AI) and sensor technologies. The country boasts the world's highest robot density, with 1,012 robots per 10,000 manufacturing workers. This technological progress offers solutions to modern challenges such as a shrinking workforce and hazardous working conditions.
The government has announced its Fourth Intelligent Robot Basic Plan for 2024-2028. Under this comprehensive initiative, a total of over 2.24 billion US dollars is planned to be invested in the public and private sectors by 2030. These investments are aimed at increasing manufacturing efficiency and making the industry safer and more productive.
One of the plan's main goals is to significantly increase the localization rate of key robot components. By raising the current 44% to 80% by 2030, the country aims to strengthen its independence and competitiveness in the robotics industry. This measure will further solidify South Korea's global technological leadership and help create new jobs. The data was provided by the International Trade Administration.
