Researchers from the College of Engineering at United Arab Emirates University (BAAU) have achieved a significant breakthrough in the field of sustainable water purification and carbon capture. They secured a US patent for an innovative technology that uses recycled carbon fiber to effectively purify saline water and simultaneously capture carbon dioxide (CO₂) emissions.
This technology demonstrated 99% efficiency in laboratory tests. This solution not only helps address the problem of water scarcity but also offers the potential to reduce water production costs in the UAE by 20-30%.
